Yesterday evening we stopped by Blossom Heights Park in the Southwest side of town for Le Tour de Houston Summer Edition. This park was first introduced to our Houston Streetball group by Marcel Rivers, who just moved recently to Tennessee. We had played already at Blossom Heights previously a couple of months ago and since we had a good time hooping there, we promised that we would be up there again, this time for Le Tour.
I got there about 6:30pm, there was already a good 25 people already waiting to play and people had their next down, as 7pm rolled by more people showed up and I was getting a headache trying to figure out how we were going to organize games because nobody wanted to wait till midnight to play a game. One of the hoopers had a good idea and mentioned to use both sides of the park and whoever won from the other side, to come to the “winners” side and two new teams would play and take it from there. It was a bit confusing at first but we wrote everyone’s name down on the list and used a team next to sort it out. After the first games started, the organization went pretty smooth and we were able to have good games going on both sides and keep everyone happy.
We had a good representation from Charlton Park come through with Chris Uno, Lance Johnson, Courtney Cash, and Adrian Justice running a team together to try to take over the park however the local team was going to make things difficult for them and everyone else. The game with Charlton Park was pretty close with both teams going back and forth and the game went to sudden death with it being 11 to 11. In the end the local team got the win and amazingly went to win the rest of the games of the night with everybody else trying to push them off the winners side. They finally lost towards the very end but were pretty tired from playing all them games.
We had the biggest turn out to date at Blossom Park and had an amazing time hooping and getting a chance to meet a lot of new people. The tour is almost coming to an end and tomorrow we will be at Burnett Bailey Park for the 8th stop, so make sure to book the date and come hoop and show us your skills.
