Today was the fourth stop of the prestigious one and only Le Tour de Houston at the Mason Park Gym on 75th street in the heart of Magnolia. Before we went out there, we hit up the home grounds at Charlton Park to get a little work out in before heading out there.
Kevin Tran, one of our regular hoopers, almost got in a fight with a guy who looked like Chris Brown at Charlton Park. This was a guy we haven’t seen before and wasn’t passing the ball and missing plenty of shots and to top things off kept losing the ball all by himself. This guy started talking trash and got in Kevin’s face and me being the guy who wants to keep things under control got in between both of them and told them to just play basketball, the guy then pushed me and wanted to fight me too, luckily I have plenty of patience and just kept my calm.
After we finished our little warm up at Charlton, we hit up Mason Park. I had my son with me so I dropped him off at home first and got to the park right at 7pm, but by then the sign in sheet was already full of people, I actually had to wait till the 4th game to play. First up in the games was Devante Anderson, Carlos Ortiz, Ryan Cathcart, and two other guys who I have seen before but are not in our group yet. They ended up winning the first two games. Then it was my turn to get in the court with four extra people. I had a pretty hard time adjusting to full court that I couldn’t really drive in. One particular drive in that I thought I had a shot off, ended up getting blocked by Ryan. We ended up winning the game however I didn’t provide any assists or buckets. The following game consisted of Chris Uno, Alexander Cheek IV, and three other guys. I tried to see if I could drive in, but an asian guy that was holding me didn’t know how to play basketball and kept fouling me, I didn’t really call any fouls but got me frustrated. Chris on the other hand was feeling the three point shots and sank down several and beat us. The next game Chris was shooting almost from half court distance and nailing more shots to beat the team that came on the court rather easily. The last game Chris sank even more threes and even had time to celebrate as seen in the video below.
Today it was a full house at Mason Park, typically it always has people on Wednesday’s however since today was Le Tour de Houston, it was even more packed than usual. Want to thank everyone that came out today, Paul, Vince Byas, Chris Uno, Alexander Cheek, Reggie, Philip Ethridge, Sadaran (smooth), Ryan Cathcart, Cleezy Williams, Devante Anderson, Carlos Ortiz. Tomorrow we hit up De Zavala park, for the 5th spot. Meet us there!
